walkit.com steps up to the mark as the tubes grind to a halt


During the lead up to the tube strike in London we were slightly intrigued to know what would happen to the walkit.com visitor numbers.

While we knew the strike would cause huge frustration for many people, we also suspected that many might turn to walkit.com in their hour of need.

And so it proved to be. For the week affected by the strike, traffic through the site increased by approximately five fold (compared to the week before).

It was also good to see both the Guardian and the Telegraph recognising the value of walkit.com during this period.

We hope all the people who visited the site for the first time continue to use it and find it a valuable tool for navigating this complex city. Maybe some of you will even have been converted permanently to walking for (part of) your commute. We hope so – as that equals success for us.
